I don't disagree with what you said, but I am going to play devil's

advocate with your "while USC/Stanford may be preferable to an SEC vs. UT Martin game in the east" statement. ESPN after it has done extensive research...hang on let me get my waders on because it is about to get "deep" (of what is the question) here...may have determined that SEC fans make up the majority of good ratings. Hence why Saturday night has become SEC Night on the ESPN Family of Networks. So while USC vs. Stanford may be preferable to non-SEC fans, the ratings don't support ESPN's decision to broadcast a Pac-12 game over an SEC game in a prime time slot.
